Microsoft Products Reaching End of Life

November 6, 2018

Cloud Data

Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Small Business Server 2011 or Server 2008 R2 are reaching End-of-Life (EoL). EoL means that while your server or workstation will continue to function, Microsoft will no longer provide support. That means hardware upgrades made after the EoL date probably will not work. New software installations will also most likely not work or run in a very slow manner. Any bugs or vulnerabilities identified after the EoL date will not be fixed by Microsoft, leaving your systems vulnerable and your data more easily accessible to hackers.

You will need time to identify any software that is not compatible with upgraded systems. Starting preparations now allows you time to create the necessary budget and start planning for new software and hardware if needed. You will need ample time to complete your project with minimal disruption before the January 14th, 2020 deadline.
